Over 250,000 pounds of fresh produce donated to families in need
BACKGROUND
Many families in our area north of San Diego are struggling to put healthy food on the table. Meanwhile, many other people have citrus trees and fruit/vegetable gardens in their yards. Our project provides a way to share backyard produce with families in need.
WHAT DO WE DO?
.... 1) Set up Donation Sites where residents can drop off backyard produce
.... 2) Send a Tree Picking Team if residents are unable to pick their trees
.... 3) Operate an organic Orchard and Gardens to grow produce for the project

WHERE DOES THE PRODUCE GO?
- Friends and Family Community Connection, a local charity that helps families in need
- The Community Food Connectionoperatng in conjunction with the San Diego Food Bank
.WHO ARE WE?
- We are an all-volunteer project started under the auspices of Palomar Health, a non-profit hospital district.
